| Edicson Ruiz is just... such a tremendous badass. I mean, I'm the same age as this guy, and he's in the Berlin Phil kicking ass and slaying dragons every day. Plus, I've absolutely loved every solo performance of his that I've heard. What I like is that his playing is very organic and natural feeling, he's not robotically technically perfect, he still misses a shift here or there like the rest of us, and he loves him some portamento, but it all just adds to his overall effect. I honestly wish I could get away with playing the Koussevitzky with as much portamento as he does, someday, for something. I think it just sounds so freaking amazing, but I can't imagine ever trying something like that for an audition.
