Seriously though, I don't know if a jazz artist can get much better known to the general population than her. I've been surprised by friends or family I know who are NOT jazz fans at all loving her music and promoting her CDs on Facebook and what not. |

Looking for the tracks of a troll

Looking for the tracks of a troll | Well, the OP asked if we ever heard of her. He didn't say that he hadn't. Still, if he had heard of her, why wonder if a bunch of DB players on TB ever have. Weird, for sure.

She won a Grammy award as "Best New Artist" in 2011.

Makayla | Its just that we don't have very many women here on the Forum!
If you Search for 'Esperanza Spalding' you'll find a bunch of threads about her, many of which have links to good videos of her music. |

Paul Getty--plays bass & keyboard, & sings at the same time so he's like 3 dooods in one. Then the drummer is a crazy poet who writes these insane lyrics so he counts as two plus what he's playing isn't easy so maybe 3. Then the guitarist is like number 99 on the Rolling Stones 100 guitarists list. Okay they sound like 7 people. I think they made an album that's supposed to come out this year but it keeps getting pushed back. Must be their first album. Rookies. |

I saw her recently on late night TV promoting her new album. Great band, great playing, but the recycled Manhattan Transfer sound just didn't do anything for me... |

And I love that she's doing it right in front of Stevie Wonder! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
