There is no such thing as a "famous double bass player." If there is, it would be Sting but he's not famous because he plays the double bass. Even Esperanza Spalding has a long way to go before she's "famous."

| | | | To avoid confusion it might be a good idea to add the source of the information to the items. Every player changes gear from time to time. When you display the source it is more accurate.

These guys are the prominent bassists that most bass players will know of |

I'm still looking for what strings Avashai Cohen uses. That shouldn't be to hard to find out though. |

But this thread is pretty pointless; Ray Brown, for one example, used any number of basses over the course of his career. Percy Heath's bass was called a Guaneri for a number of years, but it wasn't.
