"Bought out"? "Major institutions"? You need to define your terms before anyone can engage in this discussion.

Question

I think the OP might be wondering why any of the major music schools in the US never hired Karr as a prof. .

I'm guessing....

Gary mentioned this to me. There was an "unnamed" University where he was hired, until they learned that he played German bow! (He has always been positive about French playing, especially for players with shorter arms, and he can obviously teach either style.)

He also offered his services "gratis" to another unnamed institution if they would give 2 international scholarships to students. They refused at first, but I think they have since changed their tune.

The "KarrKamp" still goes in June at the University of Victoria for those that want a month of first rate masterclass time. The campus is wonderful and the students range from beginners to upper-level Masters students and pros.

KarrKamp

I e-mailed the lady directly off of the Karr website to ask if I could sign up for the Kamp and never got a response. This was last year. I assumed that the Kamp no longer went on.

I had the same issue. I wonder if you just need to know who to ask.
