Help ID this bassist?

This is a photo of a photo. I need help identifying the pictured bassist. The photo was taken in spring of 1968 at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA. The band is led by Miles Davis; other images from the event picture Wayne Shorter, Tony Williams, and Gil Evans.

Before you say Ron Carter, look closely. I don't think its Mr Carter, but I do not recognize this bassist. Any help?

Hard to say from the photo, but it looks a little like Marshall Hawkins. According to his bio, he toured with Miles in '68. Here is a link: www.greencafe.com/mhawkins.html

It is Marshall Hawkins. He was my teacher in high school and I can confirm that is a photo of him. He toured with the crew! Miles, Wayne, Herbie...

An incredible musician and incredible human being.

Thanks everyone! The picture is one of several on display at the Jazzschool in Berkeley. The photographer is Jim Stipovich, a Cal student at the time. (Wes Montgomery, Carmen McRae, and Thelonious Monk were also on the bill.)

I'll be sure Mr Hawkins is properly identified.
