Jymie Merritt on Video

Here's some footage of another largely unsung bassist, Jymie Merritt. His son, Mike plays bass on the Conan O'Brian show. I come across another son of his here in town once in a while who does sound for a group I work with occasionally. This video is pretty out of sync but gives a good sample of his powerful sound and some good solo space. As far as I know he is still with us and is around 80, and was playing as late as last year in a restaurant in Philly. Others may have some more history on this great player.
