No, I was too far away to see that. Like Slapfiddle said, though, it was on the G side.

does anyone have a means to contact Mr. LG? I want to see if he gives lessons or at least allows someone to follow him around and pick his brain

if anyone is still curious. Larry Grenadier currently has E A D Helicore Hybrids and a Velvet Anima G.

he uses a schertler dyn-b as a pickup (but doesn't use it that often). he normally runs a schepps (sp?) microphone into a mackie PA on a stand

he's a great guy. it was a great learning experience to talk to him.

can't wait to see him on June 8th at the El Rey

I'm still curious: I've seeing a picture of Larry playing at a concert in wich he has the Mackie PA amplified box behind him and a white little electronic device in front of him on a stand. Does anyone know what it is?

Was doing some hunting and pecking around and managed to find out what this little white box is, or at least I'm pretty sure it's this. I've been thinking about trying out this setup, or at least something similar like a D-Tar solstice...but maybe I should move to the Amps, Mics & Pickups thread...

Hope this helps.

I think that Brad Mehldau trio is the most interesting and re-creating trio - currently. Many will for sure try to copy Brad´s style.

Larry´s tone is little short for my taste but he is really great and play ingenious and different solos of his own.

Try this wonderful tune and a marvellous bass solo;

I like this here one.

But my tastes are probably fairly pedestrian in this crowd.

I like this here one, too.

i just heard larry playing duo with his wife in nyc. rebecca sang and played guitar. the folky songwriting stuff. so beautiful. late night, great sound, quiet room, hardly anyone there, no jazzers. gotta love new york.
What album is that, and where can i get it? I would love to see Larry play more duo! Thanks!!

Just saw Brad Mehldau Trio at Blue Note Milano.
First time for me to hear them in a club. I was next to the stage, first row, and I had the opportunity to hear and watch Larry with great attention.
He is amazing. He played the bass of the club, strunged with Spirocore, but Larry has always his beautiful sound. I noticed that he amplified the bass with the Shoeps mounted on the H-Clamp.
Great bass lines and great concert too.

Fly came to my home town a few years ago and a couple of hours before the gig they gave a master class. They had some very interesting things to say about their approach to song writing and improvisation. Larry Grenadier has been a huge hero of mine ever since. Not only is he a monster player but his sound is very organic. He has a unique understanding of the role of the bass player in modern music.
