Yeah, I was gonna go down that road earlier, Jason...I dropped a post responding to Dave's comment " it's a treat " by saying " maybe for you ", then I deleted that post because in Dave's eyes it IS a treat. Also Paul is playing in tune, which escapes some of us. ( ugly as it looks )
And, again for me, ( ugly as it looks ) this bass has historic value to people of the rock and roll genre.
Bottom line, for me, I have such respect for Paul's musicianship and contribution to the world of music, that he'd have to do something FAR worse than this to irk me.

That is cool - nice to know that Bass is still kicking around and sounds fine.

Hopefully it will be used to create some new music rather be stored as a museum piece.

As soon as I have the money I am getting an UB - I know they are different and it is another world playing wise - but they are just so beautiful and sound great IMO - I have to have the pleasure to play one even it is it badly : ) Well, at first.

I don't know much about DB, but Bill Black played it right handed, didn't he? That would tend to put Paul at a bit of a disadvantage, wouldn't it?

Yup yup. 100% agree.

If folks want to continue the critique of Paul's DB playing let's do it here. This was a pretty typically unpleasant TBDB thread. We don't need two.

Yeah, I'll leave the technique alone. Take the clip in context, he wasn't showing off by playing, it was an historical homage. I'm actually quite impressed by how much his singing voice sounded like Elvis considering how different their speaking voices are. He plays the DB like an EBG player, which he is. It's not like he's claiming to be something that he's not.

But, as the other guy pointed out, obviously this bass has been set up left handed. Does he own it? Were the strings switched around for Paul to play this one ditty? What gives?

Yeah Troy, I have the same take as you. About the left-handed setup, however, I think the bass is strung the standard way. He's just playing from the other side (parallax not withstanding).
