McCoy Tyner's Charnett Moffett

I just got home from watching the McCoy Tyner septet and omg can Charnett play!

during his last solo he played jimi hendrix's national anthem with a bow.

Also I thought it was interesting how when he does really fast high notes he'll use his index and ring on his right hand and then go back to the usual index & middle. But he was faaaast.

Anybody else ever seen this guy play?

I had the pleasure of seeing him in Seattle a few years back, with Kevin Eubanks. There is no doubt that he is a bad, bad man. Lotsa chops there. He is also a terrifically nice guy, and I talked with him about playing for about 15 minutes. I sure dig his playin'.

What, you've never been to Electric Ladyland?

Looking forward to seeing Charnett in February with McCoy. Front row.

I saw him this summer in the McCoy Tyner Septet. He used to play with Kenny Garrett as well.

He's also on Sonny Sharrock's "Ask the Ages" with Elvin Jones.

Seems like these threads appear every couple of weeks...
