does anybody happen to know the CD "STANDARDS AND OTHER SONGS" by Mike Stern?
There's a double bass player named Jay Anderson, who is that? He plays a solo on the Miles Davis tune "Nardis" that is just superb, nothing extreme fast or jaw dropping but just so logical and melodic - wonderful solo.
Does anybody know that player?
Could it be a "second name" for Jeff Andrews?
thanks a lot

thanks a lot | Yes! Jay Anderson is Jay Anderson and Jeff Andrews is always Jeff Andrews. Please do a search for Jay's work. You will be impressed. I first met Jay quite a few years ago (like 25 or 30) when he played with Ira Sullivan and Red Rodney. I think Jeff Hirshfield was on drums and Gary Dial on piano (great rhythm section). |

I don't play upright but that solo is an all time favorite of mine. Did a transcription and learned it on the electric.
thanks a lot. |

Jeff Andrews says he plays upright, but I have yet to hear it though. |

And...yes, I heard that Jeff Andrews plays upright, saw a picture of Vital Information once with Jeff playing (or pretending?) an upright.
thanks for the postings. |
