eric dolphy

man, this is excellent. thanks for the heads up. anyone notice how uninterested dolphy looks during the bass/drum solos? i guess this would be right before he left the band (and passed on shortly after). but listen to him play!

also...

the tune is 'so long eric', so i guess he was definitely headed to his own thing at this time. footage of dolphy seems to be rare (at least i havent come across much of it), so i really enjoyed this.

in another video from the same era mingus is asking eric how long he's gonna stay in europe and he says "hurry back eric, i'm gonna miss your ass."

EDIT: dolphy is really good.....
