Penn Jillette - Bassist?

I just saw a snippet of a show on the DIY cable network that featured Penn Jillette, of Penn and Teller fame, talking about his passion for URB.

He had several brightly painted basses.

The show was called Celebrity Hobbies

He was had a band some years ago called Bongos, Bass and Bob.
Around election time last year, I heard a story on NPR about how the price of a record put out by an obscure Boston rock band in the mid-60s was skyrocketing. The bass player in the band was John Kerry.

Yep, Penn Jillette plays jazz on DB. I read it in a article somewhere. He practices on an Azola EUB when he's on the road apparently.

Penn actually plays with the opening band at his show in Vegas. He's really into playing, and once told me that he has moved to the top of the list out there because he's not allowed to accept any money for gigs (due to his contract with the casino where he works).

Yep. It was funny- I talked to him about jazz bass for 20 minutes before I realized who he was.

He's a really nice guy, and like I said before, really serious about playing. I can't wait to get out to Vegas so I can catch both his magic show and his opening group. He said he casually walks out with the pianist and nobody even recognizes him!
