Getting back to the subject of Peter Kowald, if you're not aware, Victo has just released a duo album with him and William Parker entitled "The Victoriaville Tape", recorded May last year.

I have it on order and will give my thoughts when I get round to it. I just ordered direct from Victo - C$26 per single CD for Europe I believe - they take postal orders, bank orders and VISA.

Some great recordings on that label.

bump!

Tw questions - did the person who writes about the parker/kowald cd ever get it? whats it like?

Also, an admission/confession: I've been completely converted by the Jarrett/Peacock/De Johnette trio. They're brilliant!

A while to get back to you, and you've probably bought it by now...

My thoughts in summary: interesting as a last date, interesting as a duo recording of the two, not so interesting as a performance.

- Their playing is good, but not brilliant; I have certainly heard them much much better elsewhere.
- I was not too taken by their interplay / sympathy, which I thought was lacking somewhat.
- The recording quality is okay, muddy in places, which doesn't affect Kowald half as much as Parker.

Is it worth getting? As a fan of either - yes, definitely. As a recording in its own right - walk, don't run.
