| Peter Washington & The Blue Note 7 Went and saw this in Germantown, TN last night.....great playing on Peter's part and the group was fantastic. A bit on the "slick" side as far as the group; more about the arrangements than the improv/ group thing but still a lot of fun to see.
I was on the front row and could hear everything acoustically (speakers were on the far sides of the stage) and it was a nice sound although it was tough to hear Bill Charlap at times.
I still can't believe the velocity and clean-ness Peter gets out of using the middle finger together with the index. His sound was a lot different than when I last heard him when he used Velvets. This was very clear....unmistakably him but not as deep. Different bass too I think than the Hawkes; looked smaller. I think it was strung with LaBellas?
Definitely don't miss this tour if it comes near you.
