Yeah, I took a lesson / masterclass with him a few years ago when he was playing the jazz festival in Oklahoma. Great player, and has Milt Hinton's slap down as good as anyone around.

Yeah i got a little info on him and how I got in touch if anyone cares. Its kinda cool. My Uncle plays in and around Geneva NY, Alto Player. He plays with the father of Phil Flannigan who is also a alto player. They are both great. Flannigan must be in his 80's and my uncle is in his upper 60's. Well they invited me to this party and i had no intentions on playing but i brought my bass just in case. To make a long story short, Phil told me that these guys that he was playing with and I also because he was cool with lettin me play too were around when Scott LaFaro was picking up the bass. And my uncle was actually LaFaro's GodFather. And my grandma went out with LaFaro in like 1st grade. Haha its kinda weird. But Phil had all these cool stories that his dad told him about LaFaro. The drummer that was there and my uncle and flannigan's father were both there when LaFaro picked up the bass *randomly* at a gig. This was still when LaFaro played the Sax. And they all said that he had immediate talent on it and right there and then he put down the sax and devoted his playing to the bass. Just like that! its crazy. I love Geneva.

I have an album of him playing with Scott Hamilton, and he's solid, good tone, good solos.
