The Police Unplugged

The Police where supposed to play an Unplugged Gig in Miami!

I was looking forward to see if Sting was going to play his Italian Double bass, or His Taylor Acoustic Bass Guitar or Both? (Not at the same time, Mind you that would be Impressive!)

Anybody know anything??

It was on various web sites that it was supposed to be in June last year, but the I head nothing further.

Ps To the one that said Who Cares.

A) I can't believe the snobbery! People play Double bass in other styles of music other than the styles mentioned on this site.

B) Andy Summers has been playing Jazz since he was 14, and since the Police that's what he's been doing. Sting has been playing Jazz since he first started play bass and was named "sting " in a Dixie band

C) The Police play very much with a "Jazz" spirit, the non fixed style of music they play!

"Bon Jovi performed unplugged in 2007 on CMT. The Police, Mary J. Blige, Kenny Chesney and John Mayer were scheduled to perform, but it appears these were scrapped."

FWIW, I'm an admirer of Sting's work both with and beyond the Police, and would love to have seen him playing a DB in an "unplugged" setting. Playing the big bass in lieu of slab on the same material is a real challenge, and a pleasure to watch done well.

Not sure the snobbery was against him playing double bass(though I could be wrong), I think it more of a general "Who cares about seeing them unplugged"

Sting did do an unplugged in 1991! It was cool as I remember. you can still get a DVD as well as some acoustic songs in New Casltle on CD
