Can anyone give me some info amout him? I know he is the subtitute for Ludwig Streicher on the Escuela Superior de Musica de Reina Sofia, in Spain; I also have a recording of the "Trout Quintet" with the Amadeus Quartet, Emil Gilels and himself, so I think that he is really, really good...

He was the principal of the Berlin Philharmonic bass section for years. He also founded (or was a founding member) of the Berlin Octet, so that is why he is in so many chamber pieces that involve the bass.

He is still alive and kicking and teaching, too.

In the early 70's I was most fortunate to be able to study with Prof. Rainier Zepperitz who was the Principal Soloist of the Berlin Philharmonic at the time. What an experience that turned out to be. I was in the Army Band in Berlin and studied with him privately for almost 2 full years. He was absolutley incredible, both as a player and teacher. He was a true inspiration.
