Man...that sound. It's just amazing, that it's exactly his sound that he always had.
No one has ever come close to his sound. It's just the way it is. |

If the need to do something across the neck is needed (E & A), then a position shift happens. Is this a normal thing, or am I missing something. I would ask my teacher, but I have none. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. | It all depends on what you are playing and the sound you want. Usualy the higher string you play on the louder and brighter things get. It is all about what you want to sound.

Man, I didn't sound anything like I thought I did...or Ray Brown for that matter.
But did you guys notice the huge difference in tone and groove between each student and Ray Brown after he (for lack of a better term) pwned them? For me, I used to take that tone for granted, now I realize how hard it is to get that tone and swing. |

Ok, learn every tune...in any key...any tempo...while singing the melody...lead the band with confidence...and most importantly, sound like you know what you're doing!
But hey, that's why Ray Brown was the Master!
