RENAUD GARCIA FONS anybody?

I've been infatuated with this man's playing on his Entremundo, and Oriental Bass cds, and his playing on Nyugen Le's Le Trio, and Three Trio cds. Does anybody know any info about him, besides the standard google finds. Are there any dvds?

He studied with Rabbath in Paris. Also he used to be one of the guys of L'Orchestre de Contrebasses, but that was long time ago.

He has a DVD, it's the latest cd-DVD, and the most impressive thing is that is LIVE!!!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...847165?ie=UTF8 Here you can find it!
Hope it works!

He brought the house down at the ISB convention last summer. He really is a phenomenal musician. That being said, I sometimes find his solos a little unimaginative in that he recycles a lot of licks and tricks, but I'm only hearing that in arcoluz. In oriental bass, I don't get that vibe nearly as much. That aside, you can't deny he has chops like nobody's business.

Haha, I guess I am being overly critical, but there are times where it seems like he is playing notes for the sake of playing notes. It's only after a year of listening to Arcoluz a lot that it really started to bug me, so maybe I'm just getting tired of that album. Regardless, I'm still enjoying Oriental Bass a lot, and will continue to get his albums.

I was introduced to Renaud's music about 3 or 4 years ago by my teacher at the time.
The album Navigatore was the first I heard of him, and it still blows me away!

I just saw him play a 2 hour set tonight and it was amazing! His timing and tightness is absolutely unreal. Blew me away!

There is an article about Renaud Garcia-Fons in the May 2008 issue of Bass Player magazine in case you haven't seen it yet. You can see it online here, at least until they pull it down.
