Reuben Rogers (with Denzal Sinclaire)

I picked up Denzal Sinclaire's self titled CD (new on Verve) and while I really like Sinclaire and the rest of the band, I really like Reuben Rogers!

My favourite tune for him so far is "This is My Lucky Day" -- swiiiiing! And with such a solid feel, this guy plays with a seriously nice triplet feel. Also really dig the duet with Rogers and Sinclaire on "Where Or When." He and the drummer (Gregory Hutchinson) hook up really nicely too. His playing seems vaguely similar to Christian McBride on the more swinging tunes, with a bit of a more robust tone.

Any other particular places to watch out for this guy?

I know this is an old post but I just found it.

I saw Reuben Rogers playing with Dianne Reeves a few weeks ago here in Palm Beach County, Florida. He mostly played an upright and switched to an electric for the last few songs. The group was excellent, as was the whole show.

Dianne Reeves has several CD's,I don't know which ones he plays on, though. I think he plays on the Christmas one, which she highlighted at this show due to the time of year.

Reuben Rogers does have a web site that has a discography and his current gigs. He plays with several combos.

He was very impressive at the live show, as was Miss Reeves. We also saw her about six years ago at the Monterey Jazz Festival and she was amazing, and in this small intimate venue the show was just about perfect.

Check out the stuff he does with the Aaron Goldberg Trio. The album Turning POint is my favorite. He also did some great stuff with Joshua Redman..... Beyond, Passage of Time.
