I just learned that Peter Chivily died on May 6th. Pete was a monster player with whom I briefly studied under. He is one of the great unheard bassists in the history of jazz. Among his accolades, Pete was Stan Kenton's original bassist and he played w/ Sinatra. My condolences to his family, Rest in Peace Pete.
