Ron Carter

A little tidbit I thought I'd pass along:

In the liner notes to the compliation CD "Renee Rosnes - with a Little Help From My Friends" ( a very nice CD, BTW), Ms. Rosnes offers some interesting remarks about the recording and players in each cut on the album. At one point she observes that "playing with Ron Carter on bass is a lot like riding in a Rolls Royce".

Struck me as a very apt metaphor.

Well... that might mean that the ride is very smooth, but it could also mean that the engine is so quiet as not to be heard...

I heard an offhand comment once that a honda civic is just as good as a rolls.

That person was crazy.
