NIce one, bassame.

I never noticed how much Slam used his third finger down low before. Very violin-esque. Giant hands and ears like that, and I guess you can do whatever you want, huh?

I think I will make an effort to play arco solos. Anybody got any transcription suggestions?

Cool guys, thanks.

That 'Lady Be Good' is from Peter Appleyard's show shot in Toronto. He had a lot of great musicians on the show and I'll bet somebody's got the tapes hidden away somewhere!

Amazing!
I've never seen this before.
I'm afraid this is link is going to have to be shared with my regulars...
Hope they dig it as much as I do.

He was just so happening. Man, he really had it. Proof you can be avant garde and smooth at the same time:

He first caught my attention on a compilation of those early Dizzy sides with Bird. I heard that arco/singing combo and "whoa, what was that?"....

I think it's him on that early Diz version of "Night in Tunisia" before Bird had Miles in LA. He might be the first to play that bass line, though there could be a slightly earlier recording... maybe with a singer.

beautiful stuff all around. the videos are fantastic!
