Stanley Clarke and Hiromi and Lenny White

I'm realy getting into "Jazz in the Garden".

I sort of got sick of Stanley Clarke a way back, but this set is great.

Chops, tone, accompaniment, ideas. All there.

Just got home from the early set of Stanley Clarke & Hiromi's duo gig at the Dakota in Minneapolis! Met Hiromi after the show (Stanley stayed in the green room, so didn't get to meet him ).

Really gave me some inspiration to play more, and to try some new styles (he was on upright, but there were definitely times when he played it like an electric). She was a dynamo when she wasn't relaxing in the eye of the storm. He was so efficient tonight--I felt so at ease listening--and then he exploded with some slap technique that went up and down the entire length of the bass. It was pretty sweet.

Yes - I've mentioned elsewhere on the board that I bought this and really liked it! I love the sound and the way that you have a piano trio lead by bass - most of them are piano lead!

I love Hiromi's accompaniment when Stanley is playing a solo or the head - so it's great when he plays the head to "Some day my Prince will come" - not only is the bass tone wonderful, but the piano really highlights this and makes unusual sounds which enhance the overall piece!

I think Hiromi must be great to play with, for bass players and this has "rejuvenated" Stanley and inspired him - especially as regards tone and sound, I think..?
