At least they had McCoy Tyner coming into town while I was there. Anyhoo, I digress...
Right, I wish we had more Jazz. I end up playing with more singer/songwriters than anything else. You can't turn around without bumping your bass into one. There are a bunch of clubs here and a fair amount of improvised music, but not a lot of jazz. A certain booking agency has a lock on most of the jazz clubs they keep things stale.

Y'all just need to have more coffee places to play it and such. Maybe build up interest that way. I would think the interest is there, it is a college town after all. At least the students would be open to listen to it. The only jazz I heard was a quartet or trio playing at Z Tejas while we were celebrating a friends bday. There is alot of good music going around there, it's just a shame that jazz isn't included. Hmm.... how about creating some tex-mex jazz?

I know, and I can't believe it sometimes.

It is just ridiculous that Marc Devine, Mike Porter, and Sasha don't work every night of the week!!

We brought Marc up to do some gigs here in Oklahoma City awhile back. Now that is a sad commentary......

LOL, I lot you were kidding at first. Marc plays a lot, or he used to. He has his happy hours at Reeds almost everyday and his bands would play there Tuesday through Thursday nights plus some weekends there. He would play other places on Friday and Saturday. That could have al changed recently. I've been on the road most of the last year.

It has gotten worse for the trio. Marc still works at Reed's a lot, but the trio is Wed. and Thurs. It is the weekends that are not all that great. He has been going lately to Houston and San Antonio to fill at the weekends.
