Whitey Mitchell passes

This news has just come to my attention and Paul Warburton asked me to post it here.
Whitey Mitchell, brother of Red, has passed away. I extend my condolences to Whitey's family, Paul and others who may have know or been close to him or the family.

By all accounts he was a very funny man. His business card was a good example of that.
I got a great CD last year called "The Complete Whitey Mitchell Sessions" on Lonehill Jazz. They were all recorded at various times in 1956. He could really play!
It is sad to see bits and pieces of jazz bass history slowly disappear.
