Who's this Guy?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHiK9u7o4Vg

I think he's the same bass player in the Hot House footage w/ Bird and Dizzy. Tends to hop up and down when he plays. Extra points for naming the other players with Art and Tommy.

Curley Russel and Tommy Potter - were black
Gene Traxler and Jimmy Williams - I don't know what they look like.

But my vote is Eddie Safranski:

Well, you know what's possible through the magic of film. There's a great story about Barney Kessel having to wear make up to make him "darker" so he could appear on screen with Billie Holiday...

I don't recall Eddie either working with the Dorseys or being on the West Coast before the early 60s. In 47 (when the film was shot) he was with Kenton...

Well, I defer to you on it. I don't really know much about these guys, it's just that when I saw the video, it reminded me of the bassist in those Leonard photos, the hair, the long face, even the bass. If there's a credited video out there, I bet I'll run into it at one of my record shop haunts here in town. I'll keep an eye out.

Eddie Safranski would be in the correct timeline but here's a pic of him with Kenton abou the same year as the film. Doesn't look like the same guy to me. How about Teddy Kotick?
