William Parker w/ Tony Malaby and Nasheet Waits

I just saw William last night with Tony Malaby and Nasheet Waits at the Jazz Gallery. William was absolutely amazing and a really nice, beautiful person. Tony and William spent a while after the concert showing me and a friend all the sketches of the tunes and how they incorporate these small fragments into improvised tunes.

It was the first time I've seen William live and he blew me away. What are your favorite recordings of him?

The recent Tony Malaby album featuring that trio is fantastic. Its called Tamarindo, and is on cleanfeed.

Yeah, William is great on that one. You can get it from Emusic.

O'Neill's Porch is powerful from beginning to end. Rob Brown is on fire.
