37 Kay Patina finish

Looking for guidence...I have recently aquired a 1937 Kay M-4 and she is in very good condition. The blonde aged patina is beautiful and I want to keep it that way. I have lightly wiped the base with warm soap and water to clean off 50 years of dust and dirt from lack of use (it was last played in 1955). What should I do next to preserve the finish? The top has the cracked age finish that has a warm honey color glow. It is chipping away in a few small areas...I want to do no harm to the orginal finish...what should be the next step? Thanks!

A bass of that age will have finish chipping and coming off in areas... nothing to be alarmed about. Can you post some digital pictures of this instrument?
