all-wood endpin

Has anyone tried the Onyx all wood rosewood endpin available on Lemur's website? I like the idea, and the lightness is a plus, AND it has a spike under the rubber tip. See picture in the link below.

Does anyone have any thoughts on all wood endpins with respect to sound?

Thanks for your comments...

That is one classy looking endpin.

I have not, but I have been happily using a wooden endpin for about a year and a half now. I believe mine was made by Vic Firth.

Limited experience to one bass, but a wooden pin gives it a darker sound overall (arco and pizz) with less edge playing jazz pizz.

a problem I have found with the Onyx is the big rubber tip tends to unscrew very easily while you play, and the thumbscrew if not tightened when the endpin is IN also shakes loose. But while everything's tight, its great.
