1804 V. Panormo design from Peter Chandler plans.
1 5/8" overstand, 6 13/16" bridge hight, 42" string length. Easy to play.
Sound; blooms, and booms.
Coolest feature; ribs, back and neck, all made from local harvested cherry lumber.
Top; Sitka spruce.
Hours to complete; lost track a long time ago.

Just last week I was looking at some gigantic door sized slabs of North Carolina cherry thinking about your build and how they would sound. The varnish and watching the wood darken over the next few years will be fun.

The ribs all came from the same cherry plank, so the grain follows its self around the bass. The ribs are wide; 8 7/8" between plates. Finding wide lumber with straight grain, is extremely difficult. Ribs made from straight grain wood will be less likely to warp or crack.
The bridge is a temporary shop made "set up" bridge. It helps me determine the correct profile before I start cutting the more costly permanent bridge. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
