I know that it's near impossible to know what all will need to be fixed, but is there any way someone here who has a good bit of experience could tell me what I would expect to pay to fix this bass up? I'm just trying to get an idea of whether or not it would even be worth bidding on.

I'd buy it if it was 2.99, and slowly restore it myself.
Not sure if it'd be a very good player after the restoration with all those cracks.
Looks like it needs a new fingerboard, nut, endpin, soundpost, etc,...
Lots of money to throw into it.

Unless you have deep pockets or the tools, shop and experience you should pass.
Sad to see them get to this state, but this one is pretty far gone.

The fingerboard appears to be Beech or maple, both pretty common on student basses back then. |

| What would be the purpose of removing the original varnish like that?
Also The tuners look like they have been painted gold instead of being actual brass like the seller claims. Was that a common practice on student basses as well? |

Wonder if the buyer noticed that the ff holes are asymmetrical?
