I have the identical problem with my '52 Kay M-1 except my bar is loose on the top / neck end. It's a real downer because I just got a new set of Innovation Super Silvers installed, and then I noticed the tell tale rattle.

What are the chances this can be re-glued without removing the top? I've seen some home made clamps with a 24" or so throat depth. I'm hoping Farmerdide and I can come out on this revolting development.

It can be glued but it probably won't last very long. You don't need clamps, just a cushioned prop which pushes the bar back when wedged lightly between the top and back. Then you can put a clamp over the outside and squeeze.

Not too sure I can get any glue to the area that needs it. I'm probably going to seek professional help on this one. The problem is there are few, if any, U bass luthiers in western, AR.

Is that you DK of Wisconsin? If it is, the bass I'm having trouble with is the one I bought from you.
