Bass repair/restoration

Hey guys. I'm considering restoring my upright. It doesn't need an amazing job on it. There are some knicks and cracks on the very bottom at the "seam" where the wood is joined. Nothing major at all. The finish is kinda crappy so I want it refinished. And if you pull on the fingerboard or press there is a "cracking" noise, most likely it seperating from the glue.
I just have NO idea whatsoever how much it would cost to get these things done. I can't even guess. One of my bass playing friends said about 4k the other said $800. There is a big gap! lol Could you guys just estimate the ballpark this job would be in? Thanks guys!

We'll need pix Sippy, lots and lots of high resolution photos, and even then it'll just be a guess.
