Pictures below speak for themselves. Its not an expensive bass (a cheapy $800 Sam Ash bass).. Any ideas if it can be repaired? Any ideas on how much is fair to pay for a repair like this?
I'm hoping I can get it repaired fairly cheaply as I don't have much money at the moment.
Help!!!

| I know the feeling all too well. It's going to cost you a couple hundred to have it done right. Good luck.

Help!!! | That's not a big deal BK. That kind of break happens more often than you might imagine and it goes back together very nicely.
Just get it down to your luthier's place and let him see it. With any luck you'll be playing it by Saturday... |

Help!!! | Looking at that neck - is that cherry wood? Doesn't look like maple and the grain, color etc. look like cherry to me.
My neck is cherry, and luckily still intact.
Glad you were able to get it fixed easily.

Can you post a few images and show us what he did and explain it to us? Was this a bass dork, or a guitar shop type of place? I'm curious what type of "repair" you get for $200.
Thanks,
j.

What he is going to do is glue the neck back into the bass and let it set. We had talked about removing the fingerboard but 1. it would kick the cost up alot and 2. he thinks the board was epoxied on which could cause issues trying to pull it off. So, he is going to drill through the fingerboard and counter sink a rod from the neck into the body. Then fill in the hole and paint over it. |

HI Bobby,
That heel repair won't be elegant but will hold steady. Gotta ask though, what does he say about repairing the nut area? That hairline fracture could actually cause much more difficulty - it's the thinnest part of the neck, and partly cracked is harder to get at than fully cracked!
Curiously,

Curiously,
Paul (Eh_train) | He said there is some wiggle in it. Enough to be able to get glue into it. Thats really all he said about it so I'm not sure what that will result in |
