Bass stand

Hi -

I own the foldable Ingles stand, but one of the things I don't like about it is the fact that unless I lean the bass back quite a bit, only the bottom of the backplate's edge touches the cradles (which are curved to accommodate various sizes), and the only other contact point is the neck (unless I put much thicker padding over the little rubber pad, which would then contact the back in the dead center. The whole thing seems a little wobbly with this type of setup. This could just be OCD...

Does anyone know of a type of a rack where the main support goes to the back of the upper bout - some kind of a brace that would cradle the upper bout? I would even be fine with the bass just standing on the end pin and supported at the upper bout level. I could easily rig something like that up myself for home use (it could be as simple as a single brace attached to the wall), but for portability, it's a different story. What I see most often on stage is basses resting on the side - probably the safest position I can think of.

Or am I overthinking this?

George

Hey George, I have instructions for a simple but safe bass stand on my website. It might suit your needs...
