bridge

Does anyone know how a good bridge should look like, in the aspects of it being placed on the bass
Like how the legs of the bridge should place, how short the base of the legs should be?
Also, does anyone know how to identify the wood of the bridge? Thanks
pictures would be greatly appreciated

There are pix of nice bridges at AES Fine Instruments, Nick Lloyd Basses, Upton Bass and The Bass Spa. There are some stylistic differences but there are far more similarities.

The bridges are made of European Maple.
