Bridge adjuster question

During a lesson, my teacher was demontrasting how to adjsut a tilting bridge, and it popped right off the bass. I've adjusted it many times and this has never happened before, but we noticed that there is a lot of play between the adjusters and the bridge. Eventually, we got the bass together and everything is fine. I'm a little concerned about the wobbly fit though. I'm wondering if I should bother having it fixed since it's never been a problem before. Also, what would be the best way to fix it? The two ideas I had were fitting adjusters with thicker posts, and putting shrink wrap or something around the exisitng posts to make a tighter fit. Any input would be appreciated.

If the adjuster-posts are sloppy, the bridge-hole needs to be filled with wood and re-drilled... not hard.

Not hard for any instrument luthier. Hard to be done by the user.
