Bridge Question... How thin is too thin?

I just got a Full Circle pickup with a Bridge blank from (all Hail!)
Bob G. I know it has to be fitted ( My luthier is doing it..I know better now): But it seems very thick across the top (about 1/2 inch thick!). I know it is supposed to taper down, but what is the reccomended thickness for the top edge (where the strings meet the bridge?

Your luthier will shave it down to the proper taper and thickness. Mine are 5-6 mm.

bridge thickness

I use about 4.5 to 5mm at the top and 22mm at the feet.

Are the legs usually tapered too or just the body of the bridge? My bridge is tapered from feet to top but I'm not sure this is a good idea.

taper

It's tapered from top to bottom. However many makers leave the bridge a little thicker in the top center part. the proper thickness are still the same at the top and the bottom but it "bellys out" in the top center.
