Bridge Replacement

I want to change the bridge on my DB and put on an adjustable one.
I'm worried that when I slacken off the strings and remove the old bridge the sound post might move.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you really know what you're doing, its best to have a professional luthier put on a new bridge. there is a lot more involved than just taking the old off and putting the new on. I don't know if you are a seasoned bassist or a newbie since your profile hasn't been filled out.

Generally fitting bridges isn't rocket science. However that is for electric bass's. On any classical instrument I would strongly advise getting a trained luther to look at it.

Why do you actually want an adjustable bridge? If I was you I would take it to a guitar tech and get him to carve you a new saddle to your exact recommendations. This keeps the appearance and value of the instrument, saves money, and is allot faster too!
