bridge wood quality ?

I'm wondering if there would be a significant sound difference between a heavier denser maple and a lighter maple bridge ?

I have a bridge that is made out of a softer maple that weighs a fair bit less than other bridges I've seen ...

What are you playing on? I don't see any double basses in your profile.

Swapping the bridge might make a subtle difference but is it worth paying for a new bridge just for a subtle difference? If you're playing on Gary Karr's Amati, absolutely. But if we're talking a chinese plywood bass, forget it..

profile amended !

The bass in question is an old German ply bass , really nice for jazz and way better than any chinese bass I've ever met . But nevertheless it is only ply .
