Question Buzz problem... could use help

My dad's bass has developed a buzz in the half position, and I can't diagnose the problem myself. The action is very high, so I'm guessing it might be the nut. Could it also be that he needs to put on new strings? I can't tell by the way it sounds. Maybe there is someone who can listen to it and tell me what they think.
Thanks,
Stew

It sounds like a fingerboard issue but regardless, take it to a luthier.

Check that the bridge is in the right place and not leaning. If that ain't it you'll need a luthier to sort it out.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I think the next step is taking it to a luthier, like you all said.
