Can you setup a American Standard to bow?

I would like to know if their are any hookups that I may do to an American Standard bass to make it bow better in sound and quality) You know, plywood basses wasn't designed for that purpose however, if I can make one work I'll take on the road and leave the good bass home

Slam Stewart sure did a good job bowin' plywood basses , im sure any good luthier can help you maximize the arco sound with an appropriate setup, my problem was always to have a bridge arch that allowed me to maximize both pizz and arco playing. there are always compromises and in my case because i dont do much arco work live, i have a bridge arch that suits better my pizz style.
good luck

That's a conversation you might want to have with Arnold Schnitzer.

Cool

I play in pit, jazz and symphony orchestras with my plywood bass, haven't had any complaints on arco sound. A whole lot depends on your bridge set-up. I solved the bridge problem with an adjustable one so I can lower it for the symphony work and raise it for the pizz stuff. I forgot to add, string choice plays a large part in the arco/pizz combination as well as the set-up.
