| They're not really "capos". There are two kinds of C extensions - fingered or with machines. On a fingered extension, it's just like a little fingerboard (sometimnes with a small machine that you can engage to have an "open" E string and then disengage to have an open C) and you have to finger any note between the E and the low C. On a machined extension, and there are a number of different kinds of machine solutions - keys, levers, etc. - you engage and disengage the machine to get a note. So with machines you can have an open E, open D#/Eb, open D, open C#/Db and open C.
