Clarion will not insure bass since primary user is 16 years old.

I would like to insure my daughters bass but Clarion won't insure unless the primary user is over 18. I am way over 18, but I'm not the primary user and saying that I am is just wrong.

Any suggestions,

Vonda

1. Ask Clarion for a quote based on an 18-year old.

2. Self-insure by setting aside an amount based on the quote you get in Step 1.

3. Explain to your daughter that her bass is not insured and that she will just have to be extremely careful until she turns 18. If she's mature enough to focus her energies on music, then she's mature enough to care for her instrument.

She will turn 18 before you know it (sorry, I know that's the last thing a mom wants to hear about her baby).

Good luck, and thank you for supporting music in your family.

You could also try insuring the instrument under your homeowner's insurance if you own your home. I believe it's a minimal amount on top of what your annual payment is. Renters insurance might be an option too but I've never explored that..

Good Advice

Cody'd point is accurate.
I no longer play professionally so my homeowners will cover my basses.

You two beat me to it. Since I stopped playing jazz gigs professionally, I cover my basses on my homeowner's insurance.

Join the American Federation of Musicians Union and buy their instrument insurance.
