Cleaning French Polished neck?

How would one go about properly cleaning a French Polished neck. I had it sanded and polished almost a year ago and it's getting pretty gunky. How should I do this without ruining anything?

You can use OOOO Steel Wool (usually pronounced "four-o") to remove gunk. It will remove the gunk, and not the finish. Some folks will use Xylene w/paper towels, but you should do it outside. I've also had success with the "orange cleaner" solution, comes in a spray bottle, you can get it at Target, Lowe's, etc. It's not as toxic as xylene.

...or, in my neck of the woods, "four ought".

We're kinda old-fashioned in my neck of the woods. You should see the looks I get when I talk about the year "twenty-ought-five"...
