Czech-Ease Bass Endpin Groan

Love this bass (had it two months) but just started doing something new. With the endpin extended to playing position (which is pretty far out for me), I get a groaning/popping in the area where the endpin enters when the bass is wiggled on a plane perpindicular with the fingerboard. Anybody run into this problem?
