Dead A string

The A string on my db sounds dead. The bass is new, as well are the strings. Is there a way to bring our the sound, or should I replace the strings?

You should fill out your profile before francois notices. What kind of bass do you have? More importantly what kind of strings? Even more important; did you have the bass professionally set up? Much magic can be done by having your sound post moved.

Sounds like set up job is needed.... soundpost probably needs setting and if its a NEW new bass then its quiet possible your A string has a wolf tone living in it somewhere that needs to be beaten into submission.. i have one that really only comes out on the A octave harmonic, but all the same the open A sounds a bit dead and tends to fight my bow.

most new basses needs a good set up by a experienced luthier.. it might cost you some $$ but you will most problaby find them well spended.
