Different construction for lefty?

Hi everyone. I'm left-handed (already playing other instruments) and I'm tempted to start playing double bass; I'd really appreciate any input about how a double bass must be constructed for a lefty. (Not that I intend to build one, just to be informed) I've seen right-handed double basses where the fingerboard is flatter for the lowest string (is that normal for all double basses?). Should the soundpost be placed differently? What (other) modifications should be done?
Thanks.

If you want to convert I believe the fingerboard has to be re-done. The top has to be popped off and the bass bar has to be moved over to the otherside the sound post has to be re-installed on the opposite side too. Obviously the nut and the bridge have to be redone to suit lefty setup. Because the top needs to come off redoing the bassbar costs qutie a bit of money and therefor so does a full conversion. You can still get reasonable quality with brand new basses specially made for lefty.

What other inturments have you played? If you ever want to be in an orchestra, I would highly recomend learning the regular way.

thanks for the answers, guys. I've been playing guitar and bass for 25 yrs. the left-handed way. I wouldn't want to change orientations now. It's for a jazz combo, not an orchestra.
