Double bass w/ Virzi?

Has anyone ever used a virzi or something similar on a double bass? I've never seen one on a bass, but they add an interesting bit of complexity to a well built mandolin. The larger plate size allowable in a bass seems like it might have some interesting merits.

For folks not familiar with them, it is basically a secondary soundboard mounted on the inside of the instrument, popularized during Lloyd Loar's tenure at Gibson, before he overdid it at the office Christmas party and was invited to leave the company....

Here is a link and description from Roger Siminoff's website:

Sort of like Django's Reinhardt's guitars?

Interesting. Do you think that it would give a ply bass a more detailed tone? I'm considering purchasing a ply for 'rough' gigs.

saved a virzi bros. 3/4 violin from the dumpster...
tone enhancer intact... (two plates) smaller over large. it seems to be a delicate affair, but has lasted to this day.
haven't had a chance to set it up,but you have renewed my interest.
my guess is that it may be effective with the higher pitch of violin, mando, etc, but it may restrict and struggle on the down low.(flowmasters on a cummings? )
